Istanbul Modern welcomes back visitors

Istanbul Modern welcomes back visitors

Istanbul Modern is reopening its temporary space in Beyoğlu on June 16, 2020 as part of the normalization program.

Temporarily closed since March 17 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Istanbul Modern has prepared all procedures for a safe museum experience and will reopen for visits on Tuesday, June 16.

Precautionary measures for a safe museum visit

In addition to routine daily cleaning, professional teams are thoroughly disinfecting Istanbul Modern on a weekly basis using special chemicals. Visitors are encouraged to use the hand sanitizer stations on every floor. The cloakroom only accepts large bags, and spray disinfectant is applied before bags are accepted inside. Visitors may borrow the museum's strollers and wheelchairs, which are disinfected before and after each use.

Visitors must wear masks to enter the museum and will have their temperature checked with a contactless device at the entrance. Tickets can only be purchased using a credit card.

For a safer and more comfortable museum experience, visitors can now purchase tickets online and reserve a time slot through the museum's new online reservation system. In line with recommended social distancing measures, no more than 70 visitors will be allowed inside the museum at any one time.

Online events continue

At this stage of the controlled normalization process, all educational programs and events, including guided exhibition tours and film screenings at the Istanbul Modern Cinema, will remain online.

Exhibitions on view

Visitors to Istanbul Modern will be able to enjoy two exhibitions “Guests: Artists and Craftspeople”, a collection exhibition showcasing works of 10 artists from around the world created in collaboration with artisans from Istanbul, and the “Lütfi Özkök: Portraits” photography exhibition.
