Ulrich Seidl’s trilogy follows three women from the same family during their individual summer vacations. The first film centers on a woman in search of love. The middle-aged Teresa, whose work life is just as exhausting and challenging as her home life, goes on holiday to sunny Kenya where she hopes to find a young lover. Teresa’s story seems to be funny at the start but eventually takes a sadder turn as she is confronted with the fact that money cannot buy love. While calling into question the political aspect of sex tourism as a new form of colonialism, the film conveys the hard, cold reality of lovelessness.

*The sexual / violent content in some of the scenes in this film may disturb some viewers.
