In the film, God is portrayed as a real character who lives in an apartment in Brussels and treats his wife and daughter badly. When God’s 10-year-old daughter Ea can no longer take it, she reveals her father’s biggest secret by sending out the dates of everybody’s death via SMS. After that, she runs away from home and decides to find six new apostles. An entertaining and surreal comedy, The Brand New Testament premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight section at Cannes.
