Neighbours, 1952
Director: Norman McLaren
8’ 6”, Colour

A short film which has won an Oscar in 1952! As a matter of fact, it tells a witty parable, applying the animation techniques used to animate puppets on live actors. In this short film the narration of which looks fresh even today, we watch two neighbours who struggle ruthlessly for a flower.

Madame Tutli-Putli, 2007
Directors: Chris Lavis & Maciek Szczerbowski
17’, Colour, English

In this film nominated for the “Best Short Film” Oscar, our heroine Madame Tutli-Putli boards the train with all her earthly possessions. In this strange night journey she also makes an inner journey with her butterfly flying from evil agents to eternal light. With its metaphysical references, powerful visual narration and score, tense minutes await the audience in the world beyond.

Toys, 1966
Director: Grant Munro
7’ 46”, Colour

This stop-motion animation directs a dark look at the toy presents that children receive at Christmas. When the camera showing cute toys focuses on lead soldiers, things change: the mimics of soldiers, gun-cannon sounds and punishments of real war... The short film transforming these toys that render violence attractive into a real and frightful war scene resumes its validity today as well.
