With a screenplay by Ümit Ünal, Istanbul Tales is the product of five different directors adapting classical stories we have listened to since we were little children such as The Pied Piper of Hamelin, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and the Little Red Riding Hood, all taking place in present-day Istanbul. Filmed in and around Beyoğlu, Yeşilköy, Balat, Suriye Pasajı, Galata Köprüsü, Hasköy, Bayrampaşa and Kadıköy, the film can be thought of as an Istanbul panorama of sorts. Ümit Ünal also directed the Pied Piper of Hamelin adaptation for the film.
