Even though he wants to lead an “honest” life, the rising unemployment, violence, and hopelessness caused by the declining economy of the era leads Biberkopf to sink back into the underworld. Directed for West German television in the 1980s by legendary German filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder, the 14-part series is a masterpiece that is a must-see for its excellent cinematography and acting.
