Being John Malkovich

Being John Malkovich, 1999
Director: Spike Jonze
112’, Colour, English

We first meet the ingenious script of Charlie Kaufman, adorned with brilliant diversions and discrepancies, in this film. Craig (John Cusack), writer of puppet games in no demand, getting on with an unhappy marriage, has to take another job. The tunnel he discovers in the office he works in changes his whole life. This tunnel leads to the brain of actor John Malkovich. Craig turns this 15-minute Malkovich experience to a conspiracy together with Max, with whom he’s in love. However, when the love situation becomes complex, the puppeteer uses his talents to completely take Malkovich over and starts to manage the actor’s career. This metaphysical romantic comedy presents original humour based on incessant new ideas and perversion.
