Babai won the award for best director at Karlovy Vary. Set in in the early 1990s in pre-war Kosovo, the film tells the story of a father and son who try to earn a living selling cigarettes on the streets. His father leaves Nori in the care of his uncle and family to try and find a job in Germany. But 10-year-old Nori is too attached to his father to accept this and decides to go after him.
