Istanbul Modern meets visitors at its temporary space in Beyoğlu.

Dear Visitor,

Istanbul Modern has reopened its doors at its temporary space in Beyoğlu, as part of the controlled normalization process.

We would like to remind you of the precautionary measures we are introducing, and the procedures you must follow to safely visit our museum. The list below is a summary of our new measures. You may find detailed information on each of these points in subsequent paragraphs.

New Health Precautions and Procedures

  • Thorough disinfection of the entire museum building on a regular basis.
  • Close monitoring of all employees' health status.
  • A valid HES code (for residents of Turkey) is necessary for admission to the museum.

  • Limited number of visitors in the building.
  • Obligatory mask wearing while inside the building.
  • Online reservation system to reduce waits at the door.
  • All museum activities other than exhibitions are only available online.

In addition to routine daily cleaning, professional teams are thoroughly disinfecting Istanbul Modern on a weekly basis using special chemicals. Throughout the day, Istanbul Modern’s maintenance team is sterilizing all museum surfaces that people touch frequently (door handles, elevator buttons, banisters etc.). In addition, we have placed hand disinfectant stations at convenient locations on every floor.

As part of our precautionary measures, our cloakroom staff are only accepting large bags, which we are spraying with disinfectant before taking them in. Visitors may confidently use the strollers and wheelchairs at the museum, as we spray them with disinfectant before and after each use.

We have temporarily removed the brochure stands, audio guides and catalogues we normally provide in the exhibition areas. Please note that you can find detailed information about the exhibitions on our website and purchase catalogues from our shop.

We have suspended all events in the museum until further notice, including guided exhibition tours. You may keep abreast of online events on our website and social media accounts.

With the reopening of the museum, the Istanbul Modern Shop is open for business as well. We kindly ask that you follow instructions with regards to the maximum number of visitors allowed inside.

In order to ensure safe social distancing, we have limited the number of visitors allowed inside the museum at any one time to 70 visitors. Please take note of the signs on every floor indicating the maximum number of visitors allowed on that floor.

To offer you a safer and more comfortable museum experience, we have introduced an online reservation system. You may now reserve a slot for a specific time through our website. Even with these reservations, you may have a short wait at the entrance due to health and safety procedures. We kindly ask for your understanding if this occurs.

If you feel unwell or have recently been in contact with an individual who has been tested positive for COVID-19, we suggest that you postpone your visit to the museum. We remind you that a valid HES code (for residents of Turkey) is necessary for admission to the museum.

We kindly ask that all visitors wear masks and maintain safe social distances during their entire visit. Please follow the instructions of Istanbul Modern’s security personnel at all times.

Lastly, we would like to remind you that you can use contactless payment methods instead of cash when purchasing tickets at the museum desk.

Wishing all art-lovers a pleasant visit,

Istanbul Modern
