Tugay Başar, Şenol Küçükyıldırım, Alper Maral

Many works featured in the exhibition Plurivocality: Visual Arts and Music in Turkey are composed of the sounds of different musical instruments. The Repertoire study, located at the entrance to the exhibition hall, features a harmonium from the 1870s belonging to one of the first female composers, Leyla (Saz) Hanım. In this event, held in conjunction with the exhibition, various instruments are played and their functional roles in history explained.

While Alper Maral plays pieces from the repertoire of Leyla Hanım on the harmonium, he also presents the Turkish premiere of a work composed for the organ by Bülent Arel, a pioneer of electronic music in Turkey. Jazz musician and percussion instructor Şenol Küçükyıldırım creates a fabric out of cymbals arranged in the exhibition space and compiles the sounds coming from the works in the exhibition. With body musician and body percussionist Tugay Başar, who uses his hands, feet, and body as a percussion surface, participants experience moments in which the player and the instrument are one and the same.

The event is free of charge and will be held in the Plurivocality exhibition hall.
