“HARBOR” exhibition events start with a lecture on the history of the Istanbul’s ports and harbors by Murat Güvenç,the director of the Istanbul Studies Center at Kadir Has University. The exhibition catalogue features a new essay titled “Transformation and Stability at the Istanbul Harbor throughout the Process of Modernization” by Murat Güvenç, who has also advised the exhibition team in preparing the Timeline that summarizes the history of the harbors of Istanbul from the Harbor of Theodosius (Yenikapı) to the present. Güvenç’s lecture considers the transformation of the Istanbul Port from the late 19^th century to the present and its impact on the city.

The event is free of charge. The lecture will be held in Turkish.
