Concert by Erinç Seymen

Erinç Seymen, one of the artists featured in the exhibition Plurivocality, will be at Istanbul Modern for a performance in which he combines different music genres.

Seymen’s artistic practice includes visual arts as well as performance, text, and sound for which he regularly collaborates with diverse sound artists and produces works particularly in the field of electroacoustic music.

Within the scope of the exhibition events, Seymen presents a superposition of samples selected from his personal archive including various genres such as electronic music, folk music, classical music, and jazz. Refraining from establishing any hierarchy among the auditory layers he uses, the artist aims to present a performance on how both musical tastes and visual production have been influenced by the liberating role of the samplingtechnique, which can be considered as one of the major turning points in 20th century music production.

The event is free of charge and will be held in the Repertoire area at the entrance of the exhibition Plurivocality.
