Created by Turhan Selçuk, one of the major figures of Turkish caricature, Abdülcanbaz is considered the most famous comic book character of Turkey. Original drawings of his 1972 adventure “Voyage to Funjistan” are exhibited for the first time in the exhibition "Neighbours." On this occasion, Istanbul Modern presents a talk on modernization in caricature and comic books in Turkey from the 1950s to the present. Turgut Çeviker, known for his extensive research on the history of caricature in Turkey, and master caricaturist Tan Oral will participate in the talk, in which they will also cover the different periods of artist Turhan Selçuk who is among the artists featured in the exhibition.
