The event will be held in Turkish
“Guests: Artists and Craftspeople” exhibition curators Öykü Özsoy and Ümit Mesci will hold an online conversation with Aslı Kıyak İngin, the International Artist Residency Program’s project advisor. Taking its title from Aslı Kıyak İngin’s essay in the exhibition catalogue for “Guests: Artists and Craftspeople”, the event will focus on crafts in Istanbul.
Speakers will examine the system of crafts in the city and discuss artisanship, workshops, craft neighborhoods and similar topics. They will also look at the interaction of artists in the International Artist Residency Program with Istanbul's production culture through their collaboration with craftspeople and discuss the future of crafts. This live conversation, which will include a question and answer session, will be broadcast via video conferencing software and will be limited to 100 participants.
"Performing Artin", a video produced by Aslı Kıyak Ingin and Sevgi Ortaç for the "Crafting Neighborhood" project prepared for the 1st Istanbul Design Biennial, will be available on Istanbul Modern's YouTube channel starting on September 28.
