İstanbul as the New World

Istanbul Modern took part in the fourth "City-Net Asia 2009" show organized by the Seoul Museum of Art with the exhibition "Istanbul as the New World". The Seoul Museum of Art's biennial contemporary art exhibition aims to promote cultural exchange among major Asian museums and to actively introduce their promising young artists to new audiences. Participating museums in 2009 were Today Art Museum in Beijing, the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Istanbul Modern, and Seoul Museum of Art.

The works on display were Şener Özmen & Erkan Özgen’s "The Road to Tate Modern", Gülsün Karamustafa’s "Memory of a Square", Haluk Akakçe’s "The Birth of Art", Şükran Moral’s "Mental Institution", Hale Tenger’s "Cross Section", Hakan Onur’s "My Mother Only Wants Me To Be Happy", Canan's "Finally You’re In Me", Murat Akagündüz’s "Ankara Fortress and Ministry", and Hakan Gürsoytrak’s "Labor Exchange".
