A project by MDT Istanbul April 3, 2014 Thursday 17.00 and 19.00 MDT Istanbul is at the exhibition Neighbours with special chapters from Beyhan Murphy’s well-known work, the performance Travelogue II, the new version of Travelogue. In the Travelogue II, certain chapters from Evliya Çelebi’s Travelogue – such as “Strange Things”, “Acrobats”, “Pearl Diver”, “Istanbul’s Magic Pillars” and “Storks” – meet with excerpts from Elif Şafak’s works that examine life and identity. Taking as a departure point the idea of life as a collaborative, ongoing, inner journey, Travelogue II allows alternative rock tunes from Burak Güven of Mor ve Ötesi to mingle with Turkish folk music. In this contemporary production, immigration as a sociological fact is exhibited simultaneously with Evliya Çelebi’s travels filled with adventure and magic. Until now, Travelogue 2 has been exhibited in the Netherlands, Thailand, Slovenia and Spain. The event is free of charge and will be held at the Neighbours exhibition space. |
