TILL IT’S GONE Exhibition Events

Thursday, May 12, 2016, 17.00 – 20.00

Istanbul Modern Cinema

Conceived on the occasion of the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21), the video program “Art Speaks Out” aims at raising awareness about environmental problems and ecological issues though the universal language of the visual arts. Curated by ikonoTV, a channel that only broadcasts art, the selection of videos will be screened at Istanbul Modern within the scope of “TILL IT’S GONE”, an exhibition on nature and sustainability. In the program “Art Speaks Out”, 57 artists including Ahmet Albayrak, Kerem Ozan Bayraktar, Begüm Yamanlar, and Müge Yıldız from Turkey “speak out” about environmental problems through videos, experimental films, and non-narrative documentaries.

Besides curator of “Art Speaks Out” for ikonoTV and the exhibition curators, artists Kerem Ozan Bayraktar and Müge Yıldız will also be attending the conversation to discuss the program and the artists’ production practices. A special selection curated by ikonoTV for this event will be screened prior to and following the conversation, on May 12. The complete “Art Speaks Out” program is close to 15 hours long and will be shown at Istanbul Modern Cinema on May 13.

Speakers: Çelenk Bafra, Kerem Ozan Bayraktar, Paolo Colombo, Vanina Saracino (ikonoTV), Müge Yıldız
